There will be a very brief section about my shamisen-playing and composition on the Iwate NHK program, “Hirukko IWATE.” The focus of the program is on ex-pats studying traditional Japanese (especially Iwate) arts.

I’ll join Sato Choei and the Choei-Kai shamisen group for an evening of folk-songs from Tsugaru, the Northern Peninsula of Honshu.

As promised, here is a massive post with some images and the pieces from our “Goshiki Sanran” concerts. It was a wonderful experience, although most of my memories are of furiously practicing either in at my house in Japan or in the hotel in Korea. Please forgive a little bit of roughness in the performance.
