FMO Concert, "hatsuyuki" preview

My piece “hatsuyuki” will be premiered at the Future Music Oregon Concert in a couple weeks alongside pieces by other members of Future Music Oregon and our special guest artist, Zhang Xiaofu.

“hatsuyuki” is an 8-channel piece that uses the text of one of Matsuo Basho’s Haiku, “hatsuyuki ya suisen no ha no tawamu made” “The first snow is just enough to bend the leaves of the daffodils.”

Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove

I’ve just been sent the mp3s from last week’s Oregon Composers’ Forum Concert. Thank you again to everyone who came, and thanks especially to my performers:

The piece is in seven very short movements:

Success

Thank you to all who attended the Oregon Composers’ Forum concert on December 4th. My piece, Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove, along with the whole concert was a great success thanks to the unprecedented number of people who came out to see the concert.

Check back here in the coming weeks for an mp3 of the performance.

I haven’t had any reports about the Chicago Miniaturist Ensemble concert yet, but I’m sure that went wonderfully too. Anyone who was there? Please leave a comment!

Also just a note that I’ve been updating and upgrading some of these pages in the hopes that I’ll have a whole lot of new mp3s coming soon.

Upcoming Concerts

Unfortunately, over the past couple of months I haven’t had any new recordings to post, but several of my recent projects will be realized at the beginning of December.

For those in Oregon, please check out the Oregon Composers’ Forum Concert on Thursday, December 4th, where I will conduct the premiere of “Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove” for pierrot ensemble.

And, for those in Florida, especially those who love Godzilla movies, there’s an exciting performance of new multimedia works about “Kaiju” (definition), the Kaiju Monster Invasion Concert including the premiere of my new piece “An Evening with Noriaki Yuasa” for Alto Sax and DVD.

I think it’s pretty clear which show has a better flier.
