Our brief introduces digital gameful compositions (DGCs), interactive musical works that integrate the structures of digital games with the practices of music composition and performance. In these works, music emerges dynamically through the actions of player-performers interacting with computational systems.

This volume contextualizes this new repertoire within broader histories of experimental music, game design, and interactive media, arguing that gameful compositions constitute a distinct artistic medium shaped by computation, interactivity, and contemporary cultural shifts toward participatory engagement.

Who is this for?

This book is intended for scholars, composers, performers, and students working in computer music, digital arts, game studies, media theory, and cultural computing.
